The Art that Keeps Alive
There is more in a picture than the picture itself. In that sense, my approach is similar to the one that drives primitive art in which paintings serve a purpose and can have a magic effect.
What matters is not for the painting to be beautiful but for it to accomplish what it was made for. In the Egyptian civilization, the sculptor was the one who “kept alive”. In the same way, to me the purpose of painting is to “keep alive”.
By painting a look, a face, without saying to whom they belong, by pasting pieces of writing on the painting, I hope to awaken the subconscious of the “one that looks”.
